Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare to inspect and test instrumentation and control installation
- WHS/OHS risk control measures and workplace procedures are followed in preparation for work
- Safety hazards not previously identified are noted and risk control measures implemented
- Documentation of installation is reviewed and implemented in accordance with relevant industry standards
- Relevant person/s is consulted to ensure work is coordinated effectively with others involved on worksite
- Tools, equipment and testing devices are checked for correct operation and safety in accordance with workplace procedures and relevant industry standards
- Preparatory work is checked to ensure no damage has occurred and work is in accordance with relevant industry standards
- Visually inspect instrumentation and control installation
- Need to visually inspect, test and measure live work is determined in accordance with WHS/OHS requirements and workplace procedures
- Circuits/machines/plant are checked and isolated in accordance with WHS/OHS requirements and workplace procedures
- Instrument cabling and tubing are checked for suitability of the environments to be installed and protected from damage in accordance with workplace procedures
- Type, configuration/sizing of instrument cabling and tubing is confirmed for the installation in accordance with relevant industry standards and workplace procedures
- Control apparatus and installation requirements are cited in accordance with WHS/OHS requirements and relevant industry standards
- Marking of control apparatus is checked for accuracy and clarity in accordance with relevant industry standards
- Conduct functional and safety testing
- Need to test and measure live work is determined in accordance with WHS/OHS requirements and workplace procedures
- Process control apparatus is operated at low voltage (LV) arrangements to conduct and report on electrical safety tests in accordance with WHS/OHS requirements and workplace procedures
- Insulation and continuity tests are conducted on process control cabling operating at extra-low voltage (ELV) in accordance with WHS/OHS requirements and workplace procedures
- Process control tubing/piping is pressure tested in accordance with WHS/OHS requirements and workplace procedures
- Functional inspections and tests are conducted on process control apparatus in accordance with workplace procedures and relevant industry standards
- Report instrumentation and control inspection and test findings
- Worksite is cleaned and made safe in accordance with workplace procedures
- Non-compliance defects are identified and reported in accordance with workplace procedures
- Recommendations for rectifying defects are made in accordance with workplace procedures
- Verification documentation is completed in accordance with workplace procedures
